How Yoga Helps Sophie Jaffe Tap Into Her Inner Nature

Sophie Jaffe, yoga teacher, certified raw food chef, superfood entrepreneur, and mom of two boys (with a baby girl on the way), opens up about her journey to and through finding yoga, and how holistic health extends to every aspect of her self-care, from beauty products to occasional indulgences--even couple's massages.

HOW I DISCOVERED YOGAYoga began for me when I was 18 years old and had just moved to Los Angeles. I stumbled into a power yoga class at the Hollywood YMCA and fell in love. I tried all different kinds of yoga styles, from Kundalini to hatha to power to yin, and really loved the mind/body connection they created.
Until then I had only really moved my body for athletic purposes, so yoga really felt good for my skin and soul. I found a home within yoga and began to passionately study it, which led to me becoming a member of Yoga Alliance as an advanced teacher. I teach a HIIT Vinyasa class that has some Kundalini sprinkled in. Most recently, I taught a class at Love Yoga in Venice.
MY INNER NATURE JOURNEYYoga definitely helps me connect with my inner nature. It helps me to tap into my core, my truth, and provides me with insights of who I really am. Yoga always brings me back to my truest essence. Mindfulness is a big buzzword right now, and that’s because it really is so vital! Everyone’s so busy and stressed (and the constant pinging and ringing of all our little gadgets definitely doesn’t help). Yoga is deeply connected to meditation, and it’s helped me be more conscious of the here and now. It provides increased focus, assists me in setting intentions for my day, and brings me back to what is most important in my life.


WHAT INSPIRES METhe moon and her cycles inspire me. My husband. My girlfriends who are like sisters. My beautiful boys inspire me daily with their innocence, purity, and deep, deep love.
WHY I ASPIRE TO A HOLISTIC LIFESTYLEHolistic health is listening to your body, finding your intuition, and not putting yourself in a box. It's self-care as a non-negotiable, an indulgence when you feel like it, and no judgment for being true to your needs. Whether it's a couple's massage with my husband, a facial, a blowout, or a float session, I make it a point to add self-care into my life.
