"She is Sustainable" events - so what's it all about?
Three years after its launch in London, « She is Sustainable » is coming back to Ireland, this time to Cork! From scientists to local producers, entrepreneurs or organisation managers working in sustainability, a broad range of speakers from across Cork will take the floor on March 30th in UCC.
“She is sustainable” emerged from a simple idea: women have to deal with unique decision-making and obstacles in both their careers and personal lives, and sometimes it can be inspiring to talk about these challenges to others facing similar situations. In that regard, Rebecca Willis and her friend, Solitaire Townsend, dreamed about organising an event where women working in sustainability (as themselves) could share their experiences and talk about the struggles brought by being a woman in such a realm. Thus, the project was born. After a very successful first edition in London, many other events followed in different parts of the UK.
The SIS (She Is Sustainable) events are aimed at both experienced women, having a lot of learnings to share, and their younger counterparts that are eager to learn from their peers. Women that would like to enter into the sector or that are simply interested in the topic of environmental sustainability are warmly welcomed too. Concretely, the events are punctuated by conferences and moments of sharing during which women are brought to talk freely about their issues, tell their stories of failure or success, share their ideas and get inspired by the experiences of others to achieve positive change! These events constitute unique networking opportunities too.
Two Cork based ladies from the ‘Stop Food Waste’ team have registered for the event. We can’t wait to discover the upbeat and empowering atmosphere of the SIS gatherings!
This event is sold out. Are you one of the lucky ones to have gotten a ticket?
