Sea Voices
When the sun goes down over the waters
In an intense nervous delirium,
Where does this voice full of sorrows come from?
What do you speak to the earth, O great sea?
You speak of feasts and horseback riding
From wandering riders in the moonlight?
You speak of enchanted caravels
Who sleep in your bosom sobbing?
Do you have any songs?
Damarguras? You are also afraid,
O sea full of hope and majesty ?!
Where does that voice come from, O sea friend?
... maybe the voice of old Portugal,
Calling for Camões in homesickness!
