make someone love you?
For a very young woman
there is nothing more difficult
in the world.
You can try as hard as you want:
live next to a man,
cook him his favorite dish,
pour him wine or sing him love songs
that you know move him.
But he doesn't get excited.
Never.
You will waste your days
trying to interpret the silly
platitudes of a phone call from him;
the months of watching
his soft lips as she speaks;
the years of observing
her body sitting on a chair
urging you to cross the room
to make a small gesture,
