Lithuanian Foreign Minister Gabrielius Landsbergis gave a speech on “The Rules-based World Order Under Attack: The Cases of Ukraine and Taiwan” at the National Press Club of Australia February 10, marking the anniversary of the establishment of the Lithuanian Embassy in the country.

Minister Landsbergis stated his country’s deeply-held belief that the Taiwanese people have a right to use whatever name they like for their representative office.

As agreed universal principles and rules, like human rights, rule of law and freedom of speech are threatened by the “rule of power,” Minister Landsbergis called for solidarity in the face of China’s economic bullying behavior and the diversification of supply chains to reduce dependence on the global order disruptors.

Taiwan will continue to work with liberal democracies around the world to support Lithuania through the country’s economic difficulties, and to show the unity and resilience of democratic nations.
