From the demons that haunt you

From the monsters under the bed.

I distanced myself from you
To keep you safe
Safe from the harmful words
Safe from the emotional roller coaster ride
Safe from seeing my emotional breakdown
Safe from the unbearable pain in my eyes
Safe from the demons inside of me

But was I protecting you?
Or showing you not to reach out.
Reach out for help
Reach for comfort
Reach out for love
Reach out for healing arms around you
Reach out to the ones you love

I thought I was protecting you from the harsh reality of this world.
But I was teaching you to suffer alone.
Alone with your thoughts
Alone with your anger
Alone with your demons
Alone ..just Alone

Protecting you cost me my own emotional healing
Protecting you cost me the moments we should of grieved together
Protecting you cost me you.
